What you’ll do – The opportunityPosition:Warehouse SupervisorLocation: Vernon, British ColumbiaLevel:SupervisorHiring Range:65900to 82400Description:Supervise a warehouse crew to ensure targets are met for productivity, efficiency, quality, safety and customer service. Coordinate all resources (labour, material, equipment) to ensure schedules are attained in a safe, timely manner. Supervise 5-15 Unionized hourly warehouse employees. Must be able to work rotational shifts (Monday-Friday) days, afternoons, nights. Location: Okanagan Spring Brewery.Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Directly supervise the activities of approximately 5-15 Unionized hourly warehouse employees in accordance with established Health and Safety, Quality and Food Safe standard operating procedures (SOPs) to meet scheduled requirements
  • Understand and manage employees within company policies and procedures, including collective agreement.
  • Coordinate and ensure cycle count intervals are maintained as assigned and ensure continuous inventory accuracy through routine reconciliation of sub-inventories. Investigate inventory discrepancies and make adjustments as approved
  • Rotate stock and manage space within warehouse to accommodate product as required
  • Monitor shipping and receiving schedules and carrier appointment times and ensure work is performed in accordance. Inform appropriate parties of issues as required
  • Complete product returns following all procedures
  • Perform regular product inspections and audits of warehouse handling practices
  • Report and arrange equipment maintenance for forklift and other equipment and follow up to verify
  • Create, monitor and validate work schedules for warehouse employees
  • Provide performance management for direct reports, including developing strategies to manage absence and discipline, working collaboratively with human resources as necessary; track and monitor departmental/employee metrics in support
  • Identify training needs for team and work with HR, H&S and the management team to ensure appropriate training is delivered and the effectiveness is measured
  • Routing of local and northern BC delivery routes within current Federal and BC Transportation Regulations

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of warehousing, shipping/receiving, or transportation experience in a unionized environment with at least 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Minimum secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift knowledge an asset
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to create reports and deliver presentations
  • Demonstrated skills in facilitation, employee engagement, attendance and performance management, and safety enhancement
  • Ability to prioritize and balance between short- and long-term plans within a fast-paced environment
  • Computer skills with ability to use software such as Microsoft Office; knowledge of warehouse management systems with RF capability considered an asset. Working knowledge of occupation health and safety and other related legislation/regulations
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviours that support organizational values

Working Conditions

  • Spends approximately 70% of the time working in manufacturing environment and approximately 30% in an office environment
  • Travel may be required
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts
  • Required to wear PPE while in manufacturing environment
