Job Details

The Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time Assistant Scientist position in the laboratory of Dr. Kirill Martemyanov. We are seeking a highly motivated, independent, and collaborative scientist who is passionate about advancing neuroscience research in a multidisciplinary environment.

An ideal candidate for this position will have substantial experience in patch-clamp electrophysiology and a desire to integrate this knowledge with optophysiology using genetically encoded sensors, optogenetics, and behavioral approaches to study the function of intact neural circuits involved in motivated and maladaptive behaviors. The laboratory provides a multidisciplinary research environment conducting behavioral characterization of genetic mouse models with live-cell imaging, patch-clamp electrophysiology, small-molecule drug discovery, and advanced molecular and cellular approaches to understand the mechanisms of drug addiction, movement disorders, and learning disabilities. A range of projects is available focusing on understanding the function of several newly identified regulators of neuromodulatory signaling, synaptic transmission, and circuit assembly. Please visit laboratory website at www.martemyanovlab.com for details.

The position offers an outstanding research environment with access to cutting-edge technologies and provides opportunities for scientific publication, grant writing, and the development of an independent research program. While we primarily expect to hire an individual at an advanced level with prior postdoctoral experience, highly qualified recent graduates with a demonstrated track record are also encouraged to apply.

The University of Miami offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and an outstanding research environment that supports scientific collaboration and professional development.

Interested candidates should submit their application through the University of Miami Careers website. Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a brief statement of research interests, and contact information for three professional references.
