About this position

The Independent High-Level Expert Group on Climate Finance (IHLEG) suggests that emerging markets and developing countries (excluding China) face a severe climate- and nature-finance gap—needing roughly US$1.3 trillion per year by 2035, about four times current investment—while significant pools of aligned assets (over US$100 billion in Latin America) remain on bank balance sheets and only about 2% of global institutional capital flows to developing countries. To help mobilize private investment at scale and support the Baku to Belém Roadmap to US$1.3 trillion, the IDB Group is developing ReInvest+, an “investment loop” mechanism that acquires seasoned, performing infrastructure debt from local financial institutions and repackages it using fintech and de-risking tools for international institutional investors, enabling local banks to recycle proceeds into new priority investments that advance development and decarbonization. The document also describes a need for a Programme Associate to serve as the operational and analytical hub of the ReInvest+ team, handling programme tracking and reporting, transaction/analytical support, stakeholder communications, and event/logistics coordination in close collaboration with senior leadership, consultants, banks, investors, bilateral partners, and rating agencies.

What you’ll do

Some of the key activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Transaction and Analytical Support

  • Conduct research on originator institutions, sector trends, and comparable capital recycling and securitization transactions to support pipeline development.
  • Assist in preparing investor presentations, transaction summaries, and marketing materials.
  • Draft summary briefs and portfolio data compilations to support the credit rating process and investor due diligence preparation.
  • Support the development of conditionality framework documentation and aligned lending protocols for originating institutions.
  • Produce investor relations materials following first transaction closing, including quarterly portfolio performance reports.
  • Maintain the originator and investor contact database, tracking engagement history and follow-up actions.

Program Operations and Coordination

  • Maintain the program”s integrated tracking system, ensuring all key results, budget, risk, and meeting records reflect current status
  • Compile and draft the quarterly progress report
  • Provide comprehensive operational support to the team: prepare briefing materials and talking points for investor roadshows and originator meetings, draft correspondence and presentation decks for institutional counterparts, and coordinate IDB Group internal clearance processes including Spanish-language drafting.
  • Plan and coordinate investor roundtables, originator workshops, Steering Committee meetings, and bilateral events; manage travel logistics and program scheduling across multiple time zones.

Support production of replication toolkit documentation for cross-country dissemination, including case study drafts and implementation guides.

What you”ll need

  • Education: Bachelor”s degree in economics, finance, business, public policy, international development, or related field. A master’s degree is desirable .
  • Experience: Two to four years of relevant professional experience in finance, development of banking, program management, or advisory services. Prior exposure to debt markets, structured finance, capital markets, or multilateral development bank operations is a distinct advantage. Deep technical expertise in structured finance is not required at the point of hire.
  • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Colombia, Peru, Brazil or Mexico, or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Colombia, Peru, Brazil or Mexico.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

  • Length of contract: 12 months
  • Work Location: Remote.

Travel: Business-related travel and associated expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with prevailing IDBG guidelines. Each trip requires prior written acceptance by the Team Leader.
